About

Hi there and thanks for visiting my blog!

My name is Bea Johnson, native of France and currently living in Mill Valley, California.
Since adopting the Zero Waste lifestyle in 2008, my life and that of my family have changed for the better. We not only feel happier, but we also lead more meaningful lives based on experiences instead of stuff.

This blog and my bestselling book, Zero Waste Home (Zéro Déchet in French), have inspired thousands of people throughout the world to live simply and take a stance against needless waste. I propose a simple guideline, my 5R's: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rot (and only in that order).

MY WORK

Today, I am a Zero Waste lifestyle expert (or “guru” as some reporters have pointed out). My vocation is to shatter mis-conceptions associated with the Zero Waste lifestyle, proving that waste-free living can not only be "stylish", but also lead to significant health benefits, and time and money savings.

Grand Prize winner of The Green Awards, I am invited to speak at universities, corporate events and conferences all over the world to share my journey and tips (see my speaker's One Sheet below).

I open my home to educational tours and the media. I have appeared on TV shows and in publications around the world, from The Today Show to BBC Breakfast. The New York Times called me: "The Priestess of Waste-Free Living".

As a spokesperson for the zero waste lifestyle, I also provide consulting services on sustainable product conception, waste reduction, and minimalism.
